Girl’s Camp!

Lily and I went to girl’s camp. Lily loved it! She met new friends, conquered fears, and had fun! Within the first few hours of arriving she was harnessed up and ready to go on ride down the zipline! She didn’t have to climb the ladder, instead they had her get on the line where…

Cancer

Lily and I are walking in the Murray Relay for Life this year. I started a team for the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation after one of my hubby’s doctor, Maurice Baker, M.D. said he would pay for the UDSF to have a team. We are walking for my hubby and Lily’s daddy – Jeff. He was…

Eisenhower Night at Village Inn

Tonight was a fundraiser for Lily’s school. Village Inn, down the street from the school, is going to donate a percentage of tonight’s profits to Eisenhower. As we walked in Lily was recognized by several other students, and she recognized them. It was like a slow motion picture as Lily and another girl ran to…

Who Will Flip the Switch? – This One’s for Parker

When I started Lily’s blog back in 2008  it was so family and friends could follow her journey while making the movie The Jerk Theory (no it never came out in the U.S. and I don’t think it will). It has progressed since then to her fun Lilyisms antics and her journey into a teenager….

More Days like Today Please and THANK YOU

A week or so ago while at Lily’s school family lunch a mom came up to Lily and I and wanted to meet us. Her daughter ‘L’ who is also in the 6th grade had told her mom all about Lily. ‘L’ wanted to have a playdate with Lily. ‘L’ is typical. A typical grown…

ARRGH!

Lily and I got a very special invitation to go see the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. Larsen and Company along with Laser Lending invited a few individuals involved with the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation to their customer appreciation movie event.  One of the founders of Larsen & Company just had a beautiful baby boy, who was…

True Friends!

Lily and two of her friends at school got a hold of my camera. Magic happened! These pictures posted w/parents permission.

FRIENDS DAY

Lily is turning into a preteen! I’m excited and nervous at the same time. Today a friend from school came over. They painted their nails, sang karaoke, and argued who would sing the part of Gabriella from High School Musical (they ended up trying to outsing each other). I like days like this.

In Memory

Tonight at 7:00 Lily and I lit a candle in memory of our friends with Down syndrome that have passed on. To Kristen, Carly, Sadie (the first friend w/Ds we ever met), Jacquline, and Maren (who paved the way for so many of us) you have all touched us and made us better by knowing you….

Friends for Life

No matter how young or old when you meet another family that has a loved one with Ds you are friends for life. Lily can go to a Ds event and catch up with friends she hasn’t seen for months or meet new people that she will bring into her heart. I love it!
