Lily did very well, 1 gold and 2 silver. More importantly she had a blast!

Lily’s friend from school. They competed against each other. They were so excited to see each other they didn’t care who won.
They gave it their all.

Wait… let’s back up.

Last year when I signed Lily up for Special Olympics she was the youngest participant on a team of over 100 members. With the coach and myself both being a little concerned for her well being I was kinda asked and kinda volunteered to be one of many assistant coaches. My job would be to stay with Lily at all times and help others when I could.

Oh fun!

Now back to “Lily is in training…” When she has to run around the track at practice I too have to run around the track. Do you want to know how long it has been since I did push ups? Oh, that would be this afternoon! I’m sore! I’m tired! And, I know I won’t be getting any gold medals this weekend for all my hard work!

But it will be worth it to see her running in her 50 m dash. She has also added the Turbo Jav this year. We are still working on her aim, so if you are there on Saturday be ready to duck.

My favorite part was the Beauty and the Beast part where couples came out and waltzed around the stage. Lily’s favorite part was Under the Sea where they had flowing water and sea creatures all over the stage.

The costumes were fun and the set decorations were big and colorful. The leaders did a wonderful job directing, leading, and guiding these individuals to  a performance that was worthy of several standing ovations.

Finally I catch on, she is trying to say OMG! Oh My Gosh! Even after I explained it was O.M.G she still said it M.O.G. that must roll off her tongue easier or she is starting a new catch phrase. What could that stand for…

Last week Lily and I had a fun opportunity to go to the BYU Men’s Quarterfinal Volleyball playoffs with Tim and Helena. We like volleyball a lot. Afterward we went to Krispy Kream. Helena had never been there before. I was so happy to hear that and because we were so close I felt like it was my duty to introduce her to the wonderful world of a right off the rack warm doughnut.

Lily had two teeth yanked out of her head removed by the dentist today. She got laughing gas to help make her act totally goofy calm her. She started writing words in the air with one hand while she had a death grip on me with her other hand. While she was writing one of her words she did a big loop and knocked the tube of sealant out of the assistants hands and sent it sailing across the room. She also had her leg up on my shoulder just to make double sure I was not going anywhere. She kept yelling at the dentist to take the tooth out. Take it out! Take it out! As soon as it was out she screamed at him to put it back in!

Let the braces begin…

Right after Lily got done with her appointment we met her brother Tim. He took over watching Lily while I was at another hospital with hubby. He had to have an emergency MRI. All his limbs are going numb. We don’t know if it is cancer related or not. Anyhow, Jeff is claustrophobic. Him and tight little spaces don’t get along. They gave him a Valium. Jeff doesn’t do drugs. When he was done the nurse came to get me because he was pretty loopy. The first thing out of his mouth when I saw him was “I should start taking Valium for a living” He went on to tell me how calm he felt. He thought he was just fine to drive home. I thought otherwise.

We are all home safe and sound tonight. The laughing gas and valium are wearing off now and the bed is looking very comfortable.

Lily was freaked out that her top lip wasn’t working right and was very concerned that she would still be able to kiss.

We have waited two years for these two teeth to come out. There were no permanent teeth underneath to push them out.

Henry’s dog Cooper sat with Jeff Monday night and wouldn’t leave his side. He knew something wasn’t right.

She now fits in them and thinks they are okay to wear out in public.

HELP…

I am so happy I could make her day

Afterward we went to the new City Center to walk around.  It was way to crowded for me but we are looking forward to going back soon.

They ate very well. I don’t think they starve during the day but I love when they come over and eat, and eat, and eat. We had roast beef, potatoes, broccoli with cheese, rolls and Utah’s famous honey butter and carrot cake. If they didn’t like something they sure didn’t let on. I sent them home with a cake and banana bread. Luckily they had their area leader come and pick them up because they were on bikes!
While we were eating there was a knock on the door. Because of the out of the way place where we live we hardly ever get  a knock on the door unless we are expecting someone. Elder Davis said I bet it is Jehovah’s Witnesses. I was like I don’t think so. It really was Jehovah’s Witnesses! They must have seen the missionaries and followed them. They left a pamphlet with hubby asking that he give it to the missionaries. It was an invitation to their “commemoration of Jesus’ death” on Easter Sunday. The place where it is being held is just out of their area, so they won’t be able to make it.

Anyway, this woman had long nails, really long nails. Lily has been obsessed with her nails lately. She paints them then scraps off the polish with her teeth – sigh. Then paints them again. We have even gotten her press on nails. So Lily was all over this woman’s nails. She kept staring at them. She would try to catch my eye then point discreetly at the nails.  Finally Lily said very politely “I like your nails”  The woman acknowledged her with a oh you’re so sweet , thank you kind of response. I was hoping this would be it with the nails.

But no…

Lily kept on. She liked the color. She like that they were long. She liked, she liked, she liked.

Finally she just said what she was wanting to say the whole time “ARE THOSE FAKE!?!”
